Community Hearts are what 1000 Hearts is all about: inclusivity, accessibility and kindness. These hearts are a symbol of hope for a better world and can be shared anywhere kindness is needed.

You can:

Receive hearts for free (you just pay for postage)
Receive hearts and cover costs (you pay $2 per heart to cover costs of felt, stuffing, thread)
Fund hearts for others to receive (you pay $2 per heart to help 1000 Hearts spread the love - you do not receive any hearts you order through this option - they will be sent to someone else at no cost to them)

Please note - Community Hearts are offered individually, NOT in packs. If you order a quantity of 1, you will receive one single heart. Please ensure you order the number you require (maximum of 50 unless more have been requested and approved via email).

Community Hearts are stitched with love by people from all over Australia (and sometimes other places too). Most are made by a group of volunteers funded by 1000 Hearts.

You can receive free pocket hearts made by our community, cover costs of the hearts you receive, or you can help fund our free Community Hearts and spread the kindness even further.

Our Community Hearts are offered at no cost to reflect the guiding principle on which 1000 Hearts was built - kindness is free. You can contribute to our work by choosing the option to cover the costs of the hearts you receive, or funding hearts for others to receive.

Please make sure you specify how many hearts you need by adjusting the quantity as you would for any other product. These hearts are ordered individually (ie if you order 1, you will receive 1 single heart, not a pack of multiple hearts).

Please order only the number of hearts you require, and note there is a maximum number of 50 hearts available per order. If you require more than 50 hearts, please email me: sarah@1000hearts.com.au with details of your request.

Community Hearts are made by different people, with different sewing styles and expertise. Hearts come in different colours, materials (not all are wool felt or made from 1000 Hearts products) and sewing styles - the photos show examples, but yours may look different. Many are decorated with embroidery, buttons and embellishments. Please note that Community Hearts come as they are, and I am unable to provide custom colours or styles.

1000 Hearts for 1000 Strangers

I’m so very grateful to have the opportunity to share these beautiful hearts that are brimming with love spirit.

I keep them in my bag and share them sporadically with strangers when I’m out and about.

I share them with retail persons who are either very kind or very not kind. I share them with persons who live an itinerate life. I have shared with one kind and helpful person online, via a photo, who sold me an item.

Responses are mixed! All are surprised and a little confused but when I ask them to read the meaning of the intent, most express joy.

One person was so touched that she told me “no one really knows what other people are going through…thank-you.”

Occasionally, I have been met with distrust and the heart has been rejected. This is OK. And I respect their cautiousness.

If I were to be given one of these hearts by a stranger, it would make me feel like I counted.

To all of those around the world who have made it possible to give a tangible symbol of love and caring….
