Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my order take to arrive?
I dispatch orders regularly, but if you have specific requirements, please email me with details, so I can help. The only consistent thing about shipping is that it's very unpredictable! While some orders arrive swiftly, others are inexplicably slow.
If you need your order urgently or by a particular date, ALWAYS upgrade to express post at checkout, as I cannot guarantee that standard shipping will arrive promptly.
If I'm away or unwell, your order will be dispatched when I get back on deck - please allow time for processing. Planned leave periods are always advised by newsletter and at the top of my website. Unplanned leave may not be.
How much does postage cost?
I ship all orders with tracking. Within Australia, there is a flat rate of $10 applied to orders under $100, while orders of $100+ have free shipping. Please note that the $100 applies before shipping is added, so make sure your items add up to $100 or more if you're after free postage.
I offer a flat rate on international shipping, so the cost doesn't increase with the size of your order (tip - it's more economical to do one big order than several small ones!)
Free shipping on orders over $100 currently only applies within Australia.
What do I do with my scraps?
There are lots of uses for your scraps and you can find ideas and other information about eco-friendly hearting here.
Can I make hearts from materials other than felt?
The traditional 1000 Hearts heart is made from pure wool felt, and is recognized by its shape, size and colourful appearance.
If you would like to be part of 1000 Hearts but don't want to work with felt, you are welcome to use your own materials to make hearts and share them for kindness.
Please stay true to our core values and ensure any hearts you share for 1000 Hearts are handmade from eco-friendly materials.
Can I use your free resources/brand/logo for my project?
There are some rules around appropriate use of the 1000 Hearts resources, logo and brand. You can find out more in the special section on this topic, here.
How can I cover the costs of my group/workshop?
In line with our list of What's OK and What's Not, please don't sell 1000 Hearts materials or charge for delivering 1000 Hearts workshops.
However, it's not on you to cover costs of all materials if you are running a group or workshop. There are lots of ways you can cover your costs, like charging a workshop fee specifically to cover materials or asking group members to BYO materials.
If you are running a workshop or heart-sewing group for a workplace or organisation, ask if they will cover your costs.
If all else fails, please contact me to see if 1000 Hearts can contribute to, or cover your costs. Community donations and shop profits are used for this purpose and while I can't meet all requests, I am often able to help out.
I'm on a tight budget - how can I afford eco-friendly materials?
Heart-making can end up being costly, especially if you are making hearts for a cause that uses up a lot of resources.
There are loads of different ways you can get support with your heart-making and still use quality, eco-friendly materials, but warning - you might have to be open to asking for help!
If you are making hearts for a specific cause, ask the recipient to help with costs by purchasing all or some of your materials. While it's not OK to sell our kindness hearts, your stitching time is your voluntary contribution and it's OK to have your costs covered.
If all else fails, please email me to ask if 1000 Hearts can help contrinute to your heart-making. I will need some details to make sure it aligns with our mission, and while I can't meet every request, I will always help where I can.
Can Sarah come and talk to our group about 1000 Hearts?
Quite often the answer to this question is yes. Depending on my capacity and schedule, I am always happy to come along in-person or online and chat to groups, schools and organisations about 1000 Hearts' origin story and mission.
When will (product) be back in stock?
1000 Hearts is a beautiful big community, but the business side of things is a one-woman show. This means that some products seem to take an age to get restocked. Don't worry, it seems that way to me too sometimes!
From my perspective, I aim to have all products restocked as soon as possible and ask patience if the thing you want isn't in-store. It should be back soon! I always have a huge to-do list and all I can do it work my way through it at a reasonable pace.
For items made by my suppliers, I operate on a "no stress" basis, especially for the makers among them. This means that wait times can be longer, but you can rest assured your products are prepared by calm, happy people!
